Diary of a Wimpy Kid – Book 15 – The Deep End

Hi, Pencilore fan, today we will be reviewing the fifteenth book in the Diary of a Wimpy Kid series The Deep End from multi-millionaire author Jeff Kinney.

BACKSTORY

Greg Heffley wants to have a normal life. Rather unfortunately for him, his family often make this impossible for him – from his vengeful older brother, Rodrick to his ever-jealous mother who tries to make himself perfect in every way Greg’s life is anything but normal.

PLOT

The plot of the book is rather interesting as it takes the reader from the previous book (Diary of a Wimpy Kid Book 14 – Wrecking Ball). Normally there is about 3-4 weeks of interval between book to book – yet it appears Kinney wants to slow the story down a little because in just a few months, Greg will finish Middle School and progress to become a Sophomore at high school – just like his adult brother Rodrick. Throughout the book the story becomes increasingly chaotic. It starts off as a failed campfire in the middle of a forest and ends with ‘Jimmy Dogfish’ (Greg’s alias) running from teenagers armed with watermelons. Jeff Kinney has also been widely criticized because his plot copies that of books 9 & 12 – Complete Family Holiday Disaster. Many people now believe that Kinney is now running out of ideas which is why the series is ending early with Book 20 (Book 20 is situated in the summer between middle school and high school).

CONCLUSION

In denouement, my conclusion displays that the book, also spread with Kinney’s amazing talent to write, is a copy of the past two ‘Holiday Disaster’ themed book. If I were to review the book, I’d give it 3.5 stars.

Thank you for reading – Pencilore.
